All About Us

Thank you for your interest in RHEI-MAID. We are a women-owned (WOSB,) family-owned and operated, specialty food producer of the Artisanal Korean Sauce-- Gochujang (Fermented Red Pepper).  Our product is all natural, gluten-free, contains no high fructose corn syrup, and has no artificial flavors or colors.  At RHEI-MAID, we strictly adhere to the traditional fermentation methodology  and do not rush the process. The natural aging process we employ is at least six months. RHEI-MAID’s mission is, “To Share Homemade, Wholesome, Korean Flavors with the Global Commercial Markets.”

According to Wikipedia: “The making of gochujang at home began tapering off when commercial production started in the early 1970's and came into the mass market. Now, homemade gochujang can hardly be found.”

History

Although our recipes have remained consistent for decades, spanning at least three generations of our family, our commercial operation did not exist until 50 years ago.  My parents launched our business with a small, retail storefront in Paterson, NJ and sold our products mainly to friends, congregation and family. Recognizing the high quality and authenticity of our products, the market’s demand quickly grew.  However, my parents never desired to enter into the wholesale, commercial arena and the business remained as a single storefront that eventually moved to our current location in Ridgefield Park, NJ.  For many Korean businesses, family members are relied upon for work; ours is no exception.  I have assisted my parents in manufacturing our products for almost forty years, since I was 8 years old. My passionate initiative to continue the traditions of RHEI-MAID stems from my frustration with the lack of authentic and natural Korean sauces offered today.

At RHEI-MAID, we understand that fermented products must be made in nature’s kitchen. Our respect for, and loyalty to, the natural fermentation process ensures that our Korean sauce is truly home crafted – from start to finish.  One taste will speak for itself.  RHEI-MAID's product is never rushed. It is made naturally. It is made right. A majority of our high quality ingredients are sourced in the United States. Our premium ingredients and rare artisanal, un-expedited applications set us apart from the competition.

  • Yours Truly,
